I’ve used Rare Breed for a couple of different plumbing projects at my business. I truly feel that they are honest and eager to resolve my problems and give the best quality of service. They took their time and made sure to clean up really well after. Everything was explained to me beforehand and the end price was the same as the estimate even though I asked for a couple extra changes. Very happy!!

My house’s drainpipe became 100% clogged yesterday, a terrible experience. I called Rare Breed because they replaced my water heater before. They reamed my drainpipe using a jetter, a machine kept at Rare Breed in Sandy, UT. This worked! Hurray! Lundberg has collected a great group of people! Everyone I have contacted at Rare Breed is an excellent, caring person! They are quick, too. Call them!

Rare Breed plumbing has done multiple jobs for me and always has been the most consistent on communication, care, and price. They did a sewer liner for me a month ago and accommodated some really complicated situations, but got the work done early. The front desk gal is always incredibly kind. And Dan answers questions in a very informative way. I love Rare Breed Plumbing.

Derrick did an awesome job with our plumbing inspection. He was efficient, informative, and friendly. He identified the areas in my home that were in need of attention, but didn’t try to upsell or recommend things that weren’t necessary. I appreciated his honesty and expertise.

I had a leak that flooded my basement, I called Rare Breed Plumbing. Chad Hedden arrived promptly, quickly found the source of the problem – a leaking pipe in the ceiling – and fixed it the same day (of course it happened on the weekend). Chad was professional, efficient, and clearly experienced. He explained everything clearly, worked cleanly, and the pricing was fair. I couldn’t be happier with the service. I highly recommend Chad and Rare Breed Plumbing!

Our garbage disposal gave up the ghost and started leaking under the sink on a Friday evening as we were doing the dishes. We called Rare Breed because of the 1k+ positive ratings and found out how they earned it. Conner the receptionist was very professional and upfront regarding the “late hours” fee and scheduled a plumber to come out immediately. Chad arrived an hour later, diagnoses the issue, and spoke with our home warranty company to arrange reimbursement. He then offered to show me how he replaces disposal systems. Chad was very transparent, pleasant to speak with, and obviously skilled. He even provided a referral for a carpentry company to look at any damage under the sink. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and would wholeheartedly recommend Rare Breed.

Quick, precise, professional, experienced. Just a few adjectives to describe the service from both plumbers – Ashton and Derrick. Great service and answered all my questions. No issues whatsoever with their work, and they provided quality replacements for toilet and disposal. They also did a QA check prior to leaving, thank you for that. The scheduling and communication was great from the time I received the scheduling to the time Ashton and Derrick showed up. They got the VERY much needed work done the same day which is appreciated. I have dealt with plumbers before but consider this a pleasant experience, more so than previous plumbers, and I would definitely use their services again. Thank you for great work today!

We hired Rare Breed Plumbing to re-do the plumbing in our entire house when we purchased it last year. They did an excellent job with the replacement. We were not in town for the entire job and my MIL visited the house once every morning, yet the quality of work was solid. They also installed a Nuvo water filter/softner, another job well done. We worked with Damian Chavez. Damian was always prompt in responding to our messages and provided constant progress pictures. He even helped us find a guy to do the drywall repair for all the holes they needed to make around the house. He’s been great help to us a couple other times after the job as well.
It’s been a year and a half since the job and so far everything is working really well.

Bought our home and were unexpectedly and suddenly side-lined for the urgent need to repipe the entire home. We gathered bids, one of which was from Rare Breed. Rare Breed was 1/3 the price of one competitor (heavily commercialized in SLC) and their warranty was literally 10 X a third company who also gave us a bid . Their experienced crew also cut only a 1/3 as many holes making the subsequent sheetrock patching less expensive from the independent contractor. Rare Breed was the the easy choice. Their crew was ontime every day (early) and stayed all day into the evening until the job was completely done. Employees look sharp, are exremely polite and professional (I believe … Greg, Benson to name a few). They went to a great extent to clean up after themselves and there were no traces of their work left behind. My family and I are very wary of strangers coming into our home but this crew put us right at ease. I can’t say enough about this company. The job ran into a few snags that were quickly remedied by them. I would absolutely use them again. Thank you to the owner(s). Great job!
Most sump pumps last five to ten years. How long you can expect the sump pump in your home to last varies based on several factors. One is whether you have a pedestal or submersible sump pump. Pedestal pumps usually have a longer lifespan since they sit next to the sump basin. That means they aren’t directly exposed to water, unlike submersible pumps in the bottom of the basin.
Two other important factors are how often your sump pump runs and how often it has to run continuously for a longer than usual time. Submersible pumps are generally capable of running for an extended period without much issue. That’s because the water surrounding the pump helps to cool it and keep its motor from overheating. The longer a pedestal pump runs continuously, the higher the chance that it will overheat and burn out.
The most important way to ensure your sump pump still works and pumps effectively enough is to test it regularly. That means filling up the basin with water to check that the pump runs and then seeing how long it takes to empty the basin.
If you notice the following issues with your sump pump, it’s a good indication you need to repair or replace it.
A pump that takes a long time to empty the basin
An unusually loud pump
A pump that constantly cycles off and on
A pump that shuts off before emptying the basin
A severely rusted and corroded pump
When replacing your sump pump, the most important thing to do is choose the right type and size. Submersible pumps are typically more powerful and pump more quickly. That makes them the better choice for homes that are prone to flooding. A submersible pump is also the better choice if the water has to travel a longer vertical or horizontal distance to where it discharges. Another advantage of submersible pumps is that they’re less noisy, which makes them ideal for basements.
